Special Session 10:
Recent Progress in Structured ASICs
ORGANIZERS
Rung-Bin Lin, Yuan Ze University, Taiwan
SYNOPSIS
This special session will focus on recent development of structured ASICs. To curtail soaring ASIC non-recurring engineering cost but achieve a performance comparable to ASICs, structured ASICs bearing with pre-fabricated yet via-configurable transistors and pre-defined yet regular routing fabrics were once investigated widely in industries and academics. As mask cost is still a major portion of total fabrication cost especially for designs using an advanced process technology, structured ASICs will continue to play an important alternative to ASIC or FPGA designs, not only in the sense of area, power, and performance but also manufacturing yield. In this session, we invite contributions from academics and industries to further advance the research and applications of structured ASICs. The major topics will include all the aspects of structured ASICs: configurable logic cell architectures, predefined routing fabrics, design automation and test, low-power deployment strategies, design applications, etc.
